My summer was full of guys.
My friend Peter was the one who I grew more attached to. He's kinda of a nerd (computer engineering major) but he's such a gentleman. He's the one who helped me get through some of my crap from my last relationship. The weird thing is that he went to the same youth group as my older sister (same age; 5 years older than me), and his older sister is good friends with my sister. For a while we were "whatevers". (More than a friend, not a boyfriend = whatevership) Then at one point he said we should put a hold on it. Then he said we shouldn't even be friends (with all the crap I was going through). The truth is he's madly in love with me, and he's hiding it. He actually told me on our last meeting before I left: "I've never felt this way about anyone before, and I don't know what to do." And honestly I think I'm starting to fall for him.<3
I also went out with Ian, a tall Tom Cruise and Emile Hersch wrapped into one. And he's my age for once! LOL And he's a physics major. I didn't know that geeks could be HOT!!!! He DEFINITELY knows how to romance a girl (which makes me wonder why he doesn't have a girlfriend). For our last time together we saw District 9 (which was AWESOME), then afterwards he took me to a little hill that had the most BEAUTIFUL view of the valley that I had ever seen in my life. And it was under the stars. :le sigh: And he's a REALLY good kisser. LOL Sorry, TMI
I saw a LOT of plays and movies this summer. I'll give a brief critique of some (there were so many, I don't remember them all):
Dirty Dancing On Stage: One word-HORRIBLE!!!!! Not only did they go out of their way to make the leads looks EXACTLY like the actors from the movie, but there was hardly any singing. It felt like I was watching the movie on stage. This will never make it to Broadway the way it is.
Julie and Julia: This movie was SOOOOO adorable. Meryl Streep got the role of Julia Child perfectly, and Amy Adams was just so darn cute. I went home with a desire of wanting to learn to cook. We'll see how long that lasts.
The Time Traveler's Wife: I liked it because it was close to the book. A little off at some points, but very good. And OMG Eric Bana's butt. Which we got to see a LOT. He's one sexy man....even if he IS old.
Fiddler On the Roof (with Topol!): I am so lucky to have seen a legend on the stage. I can't believe that he's still able to act at his age (my mom saw him for the first time when she was 8!) He held back a lot, but he was absoultely wonderful. I think there were a few times when he actually drank (yes, alcohol) on stage when no one was looking. He's so focused to be able to know when all eyes are off him. And he's so humble. Now I want to watch the movie over and over again. Again, we'll see how long that lasts.
Legally Blonde the Musical: OMG This was the cutest musical I have ever seen. And the girl who played Elle (the original understudy for Laura Bell Bundy) was FLAWLESS. And Rhiannon (the winner of MTV's The Search For The Next Elle Woods) was Margot. She's such a ditz it was fabulous. I TOTALLY want to auidition to be in this musical.....but sadly it's off Broadway.
500 Days Of Summer: This movie was so sad and yet so cute. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is absolutely adorable. I feel bad that he's always playing the lovable losers. And Zooey Deschanel was fantastic as always. I was going "Awwwwww!!!!" so much in the theater, I think it was annoying the couple who were making out a few seats ahead. SPOILER: I love the scene when they play house in IKEA. I was like, "I want a guy to take me on that date!"
Post-Grad: It was like watching Rory from Gilmore Girls. Alexis Bledel is still gorgeous. And so great at acting lost and confused. This movie made me think of my plans after I graduate college. Good thing my school has 100% job placement.
My mom knows someone who works at the LA Studio....so I got to go on the sets on the show NUMB3RS. And I FINALLY met david Krumholtz. (And I watched 10 Thing I Hate About You the night before) He is SOOO nice! And I was completely casual about it. I tend to be that way with celebrities, don't ask me why. And I met the rest of the cast. Alimi Ballard is so awesome. Turns out he's from Brooklyn. WHOOOOOO!!!!! I took so many pictures on set (which of some will be posted at some point), and at the end of the day I received an envelope of autographed pictures from the cast.
So, I'm back at RU (SO glad to be back
My classes so far are FANTABULOUS!!!! And I have really good teachers this year. It's like the administration read my mind. LOL And seeing my friends was SOOOO great. My friend Natalie and I almost knocked each other over from running toward each other for massive hugs. And I'm getting a lot of comments that I look different this year. Well, I DID just get contacts (and loving them!). I also brought my California wardrobe, so I'm full "Cali-girl" now. Here are my classes so far:
Fundamentals of Musicianship I: I have to retake this year because of my fail last year. And it's at 8:15 in the morning. >.< So except for about 4 other sophmores, I'm with the Freshmen. And they're an awkward group this year. They're so silent! Last year my teachers couldn't get my class to SHUT UP! Hopefully they'll outgrow the shyness. But they have taken over the school this year. There's SO many of them! Anywho, I don't know who my professor is for this class yet.
Theory III: Dr. Undreiner (I know, odd name) is hilarious and CUTE!!!! He's not as boring as my previous theory professors were, and he actually makes sure that everyone is getting the concepts of everything. I see myself acing this class for sure.
Brass Tech: My class has only 4 or 5 people in it. And I'm the only clarinetist, and the only one who chose the trumpet as their learning instrument. I couldn't make a sound so Dr. Whitener used me as the example student. Ugh....I finally got it and was able to make a sound, but it was SO embarassing!!! At least he's nice. My other tech teachers have been dictators.
Well, I gotta go catch a bus to get to my next class. Toodles!
EDIT:
Educational Psychology: This has to be the best non-music class I've taken at RU!!! So, basically there's only girls (and 3 guys). And they all LOVE football (which one of the guys thought was TOTALLY awesome). And my professor, Hanin Rashid, is also awesome. She's SOOO down to earth. She's actually only getting her PHD in Educational Psychology. I'm not happy that I have to go and buy a textbook (like, last minute
GO RU!!!!!
